Make cleaning a breeze with these toilet pods, made with all-natural ingredients! Get a sparkling clean toilet without any headaches.

Cleaning the toilets is one of my least favorite chores. If I’m being totally honest…cleaning the bathrooms in general is the worst! Keeping things simple is a huge incentive for me to get things done. I don’t want to dread cleaning because the smells from the cleaning products give me massive headaches and make my hands feel disgusting. We are taught to “fix” our headache by popping a magic pill, but that doesn’t resolve the underlying issue. That headache is your body telling you something. Listen to it. Better to use products that don’t give you a headache in the first place!
I also don’t want to be digging around in a cluttered cabinet to find what I need. I really dislike clutter. Keeping my cleaning products simplified helps reduce stress. It allows me to clean an area in a small window of time that I have because it is so simple to grab and go. We are taught that we need so many cleaning products for every individual thing in our house. Go in a store and check out the cleaning supplies. Multiple aisles with so many products for individual things…and might I add, I get a headache every time I walk down them!
Cleaning should not be complicated. Simplify your life by simplifying your cleaning cabinet and the ingredients in your cleaners.
Why Use Non-toxic Cleaning Products
We made the change to non-toxic cleaning products because conventional products are loaded with toxic chemicals. These toxic chemicals get all over surfaces that our kids are touching all day. Whether we want to believe it or not, those chemicals are being absorbed into their bodies and affecting them in negative ways. The more products you can swap out in your home, and the sooner you can do it, the better!

The good news is you don’t need dangerous chemicals to effectively clean your house! Many of the DIYs I share call for a lot of the same ingredients, and they are all effective for cleaning well. Grab a big bag of the ingredients and you are all set to make so many simple DIYs at a very affordable rate.
I am also obsessed with the fact that my kids can help because we only use non-toxic products in our home. My kids can learn these important life skills at a young age, and I don’t have to worry about locking cabinets or closets because all of our products are safe.
Make These All-Natural Toilet Pods
These all-natural toilet pods are so simple to make! The only DIYs I will ever make and share about are super simple. Very few ingredients needed. Small number of steps to make. Minimal time needed.

Grab a medium glass bowl and mix the baking soda and citric acid together. Then, add the castile soap and Lemon essential oil. Slowly stir the mixture until it is slightly damp and clumping together a little bit. The texture should be similar to wet sand.
Next, scoop the mixture into your silicone mold. I divided it up as equally as possible before pressing it down. I was able to make 12 toilet pods in the silicone mold I used, so double or triple the recipe if you want to make more.
Once you divide the mixture equally in the silicone mold, pack it down tightly using the back of the spoon. Let it dry until it is hard and pops out of the mold easily. I let mine dry overnight, but it looked dry enough to pop out after about 12 hours. Store them in an airtight container.

Toilet Pod Ingredients:
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1/4 cup citric acid
- 1 1/2 tbsp castile soap, unscented
- 20 drops Lemon essential oil
- Silicone mold
Baking soda is perfect for all-natural cleaning because it helps to absorb odors and remove stains. It can also help to unclog drains, so it’s great to use to maintain clean pipes and drains.
Citric acid is another great ingredient for cleaning because it can help to disinfect, killing bacteria and viruses.
Castile soap helps to dampen the dry ingredients so that they stick together. You can find it in a lot of my DIYs because it is useful for lots of cleaning purposes.
Lemon essential oil is my go-to for all-natural cleaning. It is perfect for removing dirt and grime, and especially helpful for grease and sticky things. The smell is also super fresh and clean.
Note: You can change the scent up to whatever is your preference. I usually stick within the citrus family because of their properties for removing sticky things, but there are so many essential oils that smell amazing! Tea tree is a beneficial essential oil to use if you are dealing with a lot of mold.
Toilet Pod Instructions:
- Stir the baking soda and citric acid together in a medium glass bowl.
- Add the castile soap and Lemon essential oil and slowly stir until the mixture is slightly damp and clumping together a bit. It should be a similar texture to wet sand.
- Scoop the mixture into your silicone mold.
- Once you divide the mixture evenly, pack it down tightly using the back of the spoon. Let it dry until it is hard and pops out of the mold easily.
- Store in an airtight container.

How to Use Toilet Pods
Drop the toilet pod into the toilet bowl. The ingredients will start to bubble and fizz, naturally cleaning to remove the dirt and grime. When the bubbles stop, you can grab your toilet brush and scrub for an extra cleaning boost. Flush only when completely dissolved.
